    Brucalla Canis on the increase

Our local vet is advising that all dogs imported from Europe should be tested for B. canis as it is infectious to dogs and people.

    B. canis in UK is an emerging disease, unknown in UK a few years ago but there has been a significant increase since 2020

With how popular importing rescue dogs (and questionably bred, strange coloured Frenchies etc) from Europe is now, it was only a matter of time I guess. In the US dogs are routinely tested before breeding, so at some point it will probably have to start here too

I certainly think any dog coming into the UK should be tested.

I know everyone (or most people, at least) were pleased when quarantine restrictions were dropped but maybe we should have had some control retained as we have aquired so many 'new' diseases, such as Alabama Rot and Lyme's disease 😪
