John Howells
(DOD 28.10.2018)
One of Pawsitively Terriers Founder Members, a very good friend to many members of PawsitivelyTerriers.com, Pawsitively Terriers on FB and before that on JackRussellTerrier.co.uk.
John was wise, kind and patient. Never to busy to help those who needed advice or support and introduced many new members to Paws because he met terrier owners who needed support and felt they could find it with us.
He was also a great writer, contributing interesting articles and delightful poems and stories to the Paws. Some of his articles can still be found in the articles section
He is very much missed
RIP John, and thank you for everything.
Ode to the Jack Russell Terrier.
By John Howells
It was for hunting my kind were bred, or so the sages say,
To chase the fox and other prey, to bolt or hold at bay.
No fighter was I meant to be, but speedy, brave and true,
To follow man through wood and vale, under skies both grey and blue.
To run all day and follow scents are the instincts of my birth,
To find the prey and follow it, even deep beneath the earth.
Into dark places I will go, my heart leaves me no choice,
But where I am, you will know, by the music of my voice.
Though fearsome creatures I did face, I did not back away,
For this is what I'm meant to do till I am called away.
Our lives have changed as the old ways pass, but we still follow you,
Don't give me faults in the modern world, it's what I was bred to do.
Jan Hyams
(Behaviourist)
For years Jan, a qualified Behavioural Consultant, provided advice and support to members with our dogs who for various reasons found life difficult. Her support and help are sorely missed.
Craig Smith
(also called FOM on JRTUK and The Smith Girls on Paws)
Inventive and creative Craig was a mainstay of the social side of the Forum. His story about Search and Rescue Dog Pudge was loved by members and I have had permision from his son to repost them. He was also very active in our popular 'consequences' style story threads. Another member who's contributions will be much missed.
