    Terrier books

Does anyone have a favourite book on a terrier breed or terriers in general?

I have a lot of books on Jack Russells/Parson Russells (half a shelf worth 😂), and a few on Fox Terriers, but not many on other breeds. I like books that really go into the history and nuance of the breed, and would especially like suggestions for Borders and Cairns.

My top 3 Jack Russell/Parson Russell books would probably be -
Jack Russells Today by Sheila Atter
The Ultimate Jack Russell Terrier by Mary Strom
The Real Jack Russell by Eddie Chapman

For Fox Terriers I really like A History and Description, With Reminiscences, of the Fox Terrier by Rawdon Briggs Lee, my copy is from 1902 and it really goes in depth about the foundation of the breed, and also has a lot of good info on Reverend Russell and his dogs too (since at that point they were the same breed)

Wow RosiePosie! You must have just about cornered the market for JRT books!

I'm afraid I can't really contribute regarding breed specific books though 'When Pigs Fly' which is on behaviour was written by Jane Killion, whose experience is with Bull Terrier.

Although I have about 100 dog books they are mainly on behaviour, training , and the evolution/development of the domestic dog.

I do have Terrier-centric Learning but I wouldn't recommend it as although the first half is excellent the second half, on training IMO is not so good. In one or two places she actually advocated doing things which she has said should be avoided in the first half
